I purchased from RBW a Sugino XD-2 Wide/Low crank set to convert from a Sugino XD-2 triple on my Atlantis. What I was somewhat dismayed to find was that the 40 tooth large chainring on the wide/low very nearly contacts the right side chain stay. There is maybe 2 mm clearance! The "middle" ring on the triple was a 36 tooth, and clearance was not an issue. I am seeking your collective opinion. Should I live with that rather minimal clearance of the 40, replace the 40 with a 36, or skip the conversion altogether? I have a wide/low XD-2 on my Gomez and like it very much.
