I've got 5-10 freeriders. I use them almost exclusively for single-track style 
mountain biking with VP vice pedals. They're stiff and stick to the pedals 
really really well. I didn't like them as much for long road rides because they 
were actually *too* stiff for me and started hurting my feet. 

Recap -  great for aggressive, technical mountain biking, not so much for 
rambling country rides. I just use casual shoes like Chaco sandles or Keen low 
tops for that.
