His concern was my weight, which was 365 at the time. He didn't
specifically say "don't get an Atlantis" but his almost exact words were
"the only bike of ours I would recommend for you is the Hunqapillar (or the
Bombadil)......" .

I'm sure the Atlantis would handle my weight with no problem. I rode a
Handsome Devil for two years and I can't imagine that it's stouter than an
Atlantis and I'm currently riding a Karate Monkey and it's downtube is so
thin that I can actually compress it with my fingers (it is large diameter,
though). I think Grant just recommends things on the cautious side and for
a guy my size, who might do some off-road riding, it seems prudent to
recommend the strongest bike(s) he offers.

EDIT: I went back and dug up the e-mail to make sure I'm quoting Grant
correctly. His statement was that the Hunaqapillar (and Bombadil) were the
only bikes he sells that he thinks would be PERFECT for me. It was three
years ago and long-term memory isn't that reliable. He did recommend
those two bikes but it wasn't as exclusionary as my memory made it sound.
