Dave: We'll be in touch. I'm up there every few months. Got a great ride from SLO to the top of Cuesta (old road), west to the radio towers, continue along the ridge & eventually drop onto 41, out to Morro Bay & back to SLO. IIRC it's around 40 miles, about 1/2 paved. See Canyon has also been recommended. I'll let you know next time I'm headed your way.
