Here I sit looking at the news and having coffee and some breakfast before
the local bike advocacy group's big urban ride and the green blob is
coming.

I had been planning to do the metric century in the best of conditions,
these not being them. So as the rain begins to fall I wonder whether to
ride my Rambouillet with fenders, battery lights, tool pouch, or do I fall
back and take my commuter Disc Trucker with generator, better lights, and
Nelson Longflap bag?

I love riding the Ram, but it was a previous incarnation of this event that
had me on a downhill in a crescendoing downpour that made me keenly aware
of the difference between rim caliper and disc brakes in a wet situation
(yes, stopping until it let up was a consideration but also the problem).

if the green blob continues, I may opt based on brakes and the big bag so I
can better manage some storm gear and extra clothing and perhaps edit my
route. I hadn't planned on setting any pace today, just enjoying the ride,
taking pictures, meeting folks I had't ridden with before.
