Has anyone tried red tape with clear shellac? I'm trying to achieve a red that is not quite as fire engine-y as the unadulterated red tape. I'd like to dampen the brightness a little, but don't want to introduce any orange or brown to the mix (which I'm guessing amber or ruby shellac would do).
Looking at the photo on the Riv site, it looks like clear shellac might do the trick to retain the red, but dampen the brightness a bit without adding orange-ish hues. http://www.rivbike.com/products/list/handlebars_stems_and_tape?a=1&page=all#product=16-114 Anyone have any experience with this?
