Y'know, on my errand bikes -- the currently captive Riv #3, hopefully being powdercoated right now after many and varied brazed-on additions, and, formerly, the Ram -- I had a 4" section of pipe insulation more or less permanently attached to the bottom of the seat tube, under the bottle cage, to be removed and used as padding when locking the bikes to metal posts. But the gofast disdains any such quotidian utilitarian measures.
