Thanks so much for all the great input. Here's my plan: I'm going to re-create what worked for so long on the Hilsen. I'm getting a new rear derailer and new Shimano bar-ends. After reading everyones suggestions, my intuition tells me this is the way to go. Another suggestion that really intrigued me was to go with an 8-speed cassette and a 9-speed chain. I'm going to wait on that because I don't want to make to major of a change before PBP. Anyway, I'll report back in a couple of weeks when the parts arrive and I install them. Thanks everyone!
