Yes, but it's not significantly skinnier than your old 7-speed chain. Look around for front derailers labeled "8-speed" and you'll find what you need. I've tried 7/8-speed chains on 9-speed FDs and it's an endless headache. Sell that XT to a modern hipster skinny-chain person who can use that newfangled contraption.
