Alan, that quill stem has such short vertical extension, you might do 
better with a quill/threadless adapter

drew, may not be the bars specifically, but the way you have them adjusted. 
 My moustache bars are on a heavy bike and the farthest I've ridden it is 
40 mi (with a 2500' climb), but I'm not limited by any kind of discomfort 
showing up.  
On my new upright bars, I've been making tweaks to address numbness that 
shows up and with good success (numbness = pinched circulation)
