Dear Tim, Your jersey isn't the place to weight weenie--it saves layers if carefully chosen.
A summerweight wool jersey will get you from low-40's to mid-90's and 90% humidity, and you'll use that full range at PBP. I was not surprised at all by the temperature range on PBP 2011, and really enjoyed the low altitude, but I was not prepared for 90°F/90%RH on the first afternoon, and I paid for it over the next two days. The jersey didn't even smell that bad after 77h, though the French laundry that washed my cycling clothes after I finished used the strongest and most persistent scented soap I've encountered. My shorts had that particular perfume about them for six months afterward. Best, Will William M. deRosset Fort Collins, CO P.S. Shorts, jersey, arm warmers, leg warmers, ear band, knit LF gloves, windvest, and a rain jacket covered 5C and rain to 33C and blasting sun. I had overmitts and toe warmers, but didn't need them. I didn't need the rain jacket while actually riding, either, but I had to put it on at controls to prevent shivering.
