Yes, I am very fortunate to have such bucolic surroundings. They certainly
don't match the majesty of Colorado mountains, but they also certainly have
their charm.

Having just cleaned and lubed the Fargo (gentle hose, soft brush with dish
detergent, rinse air dry, chain to waxing crockpot, oil on pivots) of all
its dust, I wondered what others' dirt ride cleaning regimens are. Deacon:
How often do you clean, and how clean and lube?

Here except for once or thrice a year it's simply very fine dust. I clean
every, what, 100-150 dirty miles or so? but am not too particular about it
-- drivetrain longevity and performance rather than shininess.

BTW: I can't figure out why people have to use special tools for KMC or
SRAM masterlinks. My KMC 9 speed chain was covered in dust, yet it came
apart easier than it went back on.

I must say that the Nashbar Microshift (road) RD performs wonderfully with
the Silvers; my drivetrain is pretty much a 1X9 with a rarely used granny
bailout. I'm curious if anyone shifts 10 or 11 with Silver bar ends? It
would be nice to ditch the fd altogether and I could easily get by with 10
if my big cog was a 38 or so, but I don't want indexing.
