I've never chased a BB shell, and consequently I've installed a lot of bottom
brackets in spaces that might not have been perfectly round or free of a rough
thread or two. They went in straight, slowly, and with some effort, and came
out and were replaced the same way. If yours is in there straight and tight
now, and the cranks are spinning freely, I would recommend leaving it alone.
Someday you'll need to replace it, and you can deal with any issues present
then. I doubt you'll find a problem.
