The only thing I can add is that the bike you are looking at appears to have "Repack" geometry which is very slack seat and head angles and a very long wheelbase. These bikes handle very differently than modern bikes or even bikes from just a few years later. People seem to either love or hate that old geometry and it seems that the latter is more common. If you are trying to entice your fiance into bicycling, a bike with what many consider to be "wanky" handling might not be the best choice.
OTOH, you may be very familar with the old MTB geometry and already calculated that into your decision making. Good luck with whatever you go with.!
