I’ll open myself to mocking by admitting that I have, in fact, sold a plastic bicycle water bottle on eBay for $100. However, this was a very rare, mint condition bottle from the 1980s, still in the original packaging and printed with the Colnago name and logo. The combination of those factors led a very motivated buyer who was, I believe, doing a period-correct restoration of a Colnago, to pay that much.
I’ve sold other bottles from my collection of NOS 1980s bottles for amounts ranging from $20 to $50. The price is highly related to the desirability of the trademark on the bottle. Interesting that most of the buyers for items like this come from overseas. I’ve shipped bottles to the Philippines, Japan, and China. Japan, in particular, is home to a large number of bicycle collectors who are particularly interested in restoring Italian bikes from the “golden age” of European racing. --Eric N campyonly...@me.com www.CampyOnly.com Twitter: @CampyOnlyGuy Blog: http://CampyOnlyGuy.blogspot.com > On Nov 12, 2014, at 9:36 AM, Beth H <beth.hamon...@gmail.com> wrote: > > 3.
