In my experience, the 4-strut mounting <https://www.flickr.com/photos/franklyn/7617926224/in/set-72157627342403464> is much more secured and stable than the two struts plus the diving board. Using the struts at fork crown also cleans up the area around and under the brake holes for less interference with brakes, etc.
