Lots of good riding from Berkeley/Oakland, of course...the
already-mentioned Tunnel Road, Grizzly Peak, Redwood Road...Three Bears
loop is a good 'un, easily accessible from Berkeley...also, take BART to
Walnut Creek, ride Diablo, then ride home to Oakland if you're feeling
*grande*.

I definitely recommend Marin County. The Pt. Reyes populaire route by SF
Randos is a fantastic ride. You can shorten it up by going to Limantour
Beach instead of the lighthouse, but make sure you hit Bovine Bakery in Pt.
Reyes Station on the way back. Also, Bolinas-Fairfax Road from Fairfax gets
you to HWY 1 or to Mt. Tam. You can put together a sweet mixed terrain ride
taking Bo-Fax Road up to Bolinas Ridge (dirt), go north to Sir Francis
Drake, then back to Fairfax via the Cross Marin Trail (aka Magic
Carpet)...OR, go west on SFD into Olema, Pt. Reyes, etc., etc. Hard to do
too many miles in this beautiful corner of the world.

Here's a pro tip...take leave from a good East Bay loop (Three Bears will
do nicely) and grab lunch and a beer at the Warehouse Cafe in Port Costa.
Good anytime, Sunday afternoon recommended for live music and extreme cross
section of people.

For SF proper...all I ever ride is the Wiggle from downtown to the GG
bridge as a way to access Marin County. As an out-of-towner, I love that
ride, you see a terrific part of SF in a pedal-friendly fashion. On the way
back, decide on either Pier 39 tourist shenanigans, or Ocean Beach and GG
park.
