I currently have a Shimano dynohub and an Edelux 1. My Edelux is rack mounted, but there are lots of brackets out there to allow fork mounting, fender mounting, etc. If your fork has any tapped holes for a rack, that's a good place to start.
Now, the Edelux was a splurge. I was rebuilding after a bad accident...but you can get excellent lights from $30 on up. It's a very pretty thing, but not much more functional than the $30 plastic Avenir unit. My Shimano dynohub has been solid for a decade. However, it has become noisy when stopping (I suspect an unfortunately resonant fork on my VO; it never made a peep on my Kogswell) so I am presently looking at other options, including Dymotec and Velogical units and an older bottom-bracket mounted dyno. (A friend of mine has a Magnic set on order as well.) I will be posting a comparison of dyno types on my blog in late July or early August. I do recommend the Shimano hub dyno very highly. It's 95+% of SON for about 1/3 the price. As for the wireless bit, that just means you don't need to plug in the wires to the wheel. SON uses spade lugs; Shimano uses a plastic plug. The wireless system just means the connection is made through plates on the inner faces of the dropouts, so no need to have wires THERE. You do still need to run a wire to the headlight of your choice. Unless you frequently take off your front wheel, more trouble than it's worth, IMO. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
