There is also Nicasio Valley Cheese Company just a tailwind coast outside
of the Nicasio square. This is on a pretty majorly-bicycle-trafficked route
out towards Pt. Reyes Station. Their "Foggy Morning" is excellent. You
could conceivably make a nice loop to connect Marin French, Cowgirl and
Nicasio Valley.

And for those of you who don't know, I might as well go ahead and mention
my brother is a cheesemonger - not a producer - who works at Rainbow
Grocery in SF. He's published a cheese memoir - called "Cheesemonger" and
is now working on his second book. He has a blog where he has highlighted
many small regional US cheesemakers over the years - http://gordonzola.net/

I don't mean to veer the list conversations cheeseward, but wanted to
supply some very initial resources to anyone interested in finding out
more. Small cheesemakers are the lugged steel custom manufacturers of the
food world, IMHO.... ;^)

I will say that many times when he's brought cheese selections to family
gatherings, the meal was moot...
