I had a too small for me mountain bike that had loadsa space, well over 12", there was a bit of a gap w/ the Large saddlesack, but there wasn't much swaying and very minimal thigh rub (not much gap & no rub when fully loaded). Not sure what question the "I don't know" reply was to, but I hope this helps a bit. It's a wonderful bag, I've bought & sold two and am keeping the one I currently have until I change my mind again.
