Hello, Don't know if this'll help, but haven't seen anyone else mention this. Cleanliness is key to maintaining good health in the nether regions. I have adult onset saddle sores I deal with, every year now. Never a problem until about 5 years ago. Your description sounds similar.
Here's what I've done to keep saddle sores in check. 1) Always wear clean shorts for every ride. This sounds obvious, but not all cyclists put a clean pair of cycling shorts on. This means you gotta have a bunch of shorts and keep up on the washing. 2) Never stand around in your shorts after a ride. Shower immediately after riding. 3) If a shower is not available, clean up with a sanitary wipe, like Germ-X antibacterial wipes. You can easily carry a couple in your saddle bag. 4) I also occasionally douse myself with Ammens medicated powder (with zinc-something or other) after showering. It keeps things nice and dry. After much trial and error, this regimen has worked for me. YMMV. Drew On Sep 15, 2009, at 1:35 PM, avillage wrote: > > Howdy. This is a bit embarassing and here goes anyway.
