The Sam, as nice as it is, can hardly compare to a top of the line road bike from a good builder or designer, old or new. It's just not that kind of bike, IME. Now for touring or cruising gravel or knockabout on- and off-road rambles, it's great, but it will never ride like a good road bike, including the Ram and, I daresay, the Roadeo.
Mine felt nice, but it was neither as spritely or as nimble in handling as a pure road bike. Apples to oranges, sez I.
