I don't have a Riv now, I'm trying to decide between a 54 San Marcos or a 57 Roadeo. My PBH is 85 cm and my SH is around 74 cm. How high and low I can put the bars relative to my saddle is an important deciding factor for me. But I don't have the info I need to plug into the bike calculator. So if I can't get the info I need from the Riv geometry charts, I'll have to call Riv and waste their time.
I suppose it would be better to make a trip to Riv and measure them myself. Your suggested measurement method is exactly what I want to do. I would go with a quill on both the Roadeo and the Marcos, so that measurement should be easy. If I go to Riv, I can test ride both the 54 San Marcos and the 57 Roadeo while I'm at it. I'm not that close, but what the heck? :-) Doug On Friday, May 16, 2014 2:02:18 PM UTC-7, Shoji Takahashi wrote: > > Maybe try this: http://www.bikecalculator.co.uk/createamap.htm > (or google bicycle geometry calculator to see other variations) > > Caveat-- theory may not be the same as reality when you go to set it up. > > If you're mechanically inclined, then just perform the experiment: > Loosen the stem bolt and put it all the way down-- measure. > Raise the stem to the min insertion line (i.e., max height)-- measure. > > You can estimate a change to another stem if you know its relationship to > the one you have.
