its very hard to answer that question without making negative remarks about riv models. i like my riv, but on this forum, there is a lot of disinformation regarding other brands, especially carbon brands. my frame is one step down from the top frame. the frameset is a bargain. i have a ram, a tournesol, and a hampsten ti, and while they are all great bikes, they are no less expensive and they do not offer the modern tech. they are all signifigantly heavier, more flexible in the bb area, and do not ride any softer with the same tires. bottom line, its fun to enjoy old style bikes, but you must be a "luddite" not to admit the obvious advancement in tech. and it is not really expensive, if you don't mind buying the middle of road frames. contador won the tour de france on trek's middle priced frame.
