Sorry if I wasn't clear.  They just greased the threads which they
said were bone dry. It's a sealed cartridge and I think what they were
saying is that if the grease is gone from those threads it can lead to
the sort of play in the bracket that I was experiencing.  I do think
that New York city has a tendency to generate a lot of fine soot like
dust that can gum up the greasy parts of a bicycle.  Not to mention I
did a few long rides in some extreme wet weather last summer.  And
there is a little hole in the bottom of the Atlantis's bracket.
