I have a self-built first-gen (green) Quickbeam with the Riv approved
Suzue rear hub and a Nashbar flip-flop that came with long axles and
nuts, that I cut down and made a quickrelease. Both hubs have been
bombproof, both have been run as fixed and free. I never messed with
the dropout (dropin?) paint. I tighten my quickrelease until it starts
to snug with the lever perpendicular to the frame, then pull it
parallel to the frame. I do not use much backpedal braking pressure as
brakes are a better tool than legs in my opinion.
