If using an old style QR and/or roughing up the track ends doesn't work for you, I suggest the Surly Tuggnut, too. I tried all of the above on my SS Karate Monkey to no avail and finally bought the Tuggnut. Quick, simple, and elegant fix for all your rear wheel slippage, and you'll have a convenient place to crack open that post ride frosty ale.
