In general I find kool stop pads, especially salmon, to be squeaky and not of any increased effectiveness to justify the persnickety squeakiness. My choice these days is actually an el cheapo Tektro V- brake pad that I buy in bulk (25 pairs in a bag) from QBP. I think you can get them in non-bulk quantites, too. Should be about $10-15 for a bikesworth at your LBS.
