The front fender struts are attached high up on the fork legs, which makes
it more flexy but also (I hope) will keep it from jamming the tire if a
stick gets caught in it. I more recently swapped the double zip ties for
plastic seatpost reflector brackets to fit the very fat fork legs.
Presumably these provide a backup QR, since (again, one hopes) they will
break if a stick gets caught in the front tire.
