Yeah, I sure don't want to get that worn old debate going anew, but I would
like to mention and maybe seek comments on a computer/bike question.

I recently purchased a small Acer netbook (2 lbs., 6 x 8 inches) to carry in my
pannier on this coming summer's Western Express/Trans-Am trip.  I need to edit
and proof two and perhaps three issues of a monthly union newspaper from the
road.  Each issue averages 28 -32 pages, half of which will be paid ads.

I am assuming that all I will need is an assistant at this end who will scan
lots of documents and format pix into jpegs, a good wi-fi connection, and an
occassional AC hook to recharge the batteries.  I will be using MS Works as the
word processor, a smaller version of MSWord.  No PhotoShop, just a basic
cropping, rotation tool for the pix.  Another nice featture that came with the
Acer is a video chat capability with built-in camera.  I might be able to hook
with family and friends on occassion.
Have any of you used one of these new little wi-fi computers?  I am wondering
mostly how it will endure the packing and hauling on the bike.  Our plan is
five or six nights of camping, one or two of motel stays per week. Nothing is
set in stone.

In addition, I am also taking my iPhone and a small digital camera.

Thanks for any response.

Ray

Hello my name's Bob...and I'm a PC. But since the purchase of my AHH
and iPhone, I succumbed to the inexplicable, yet powerful allure of
the Steve Jobs empire and bought a MacBook Pro.
