They fit but the size is not ideal, particularly around the chainstay
area.  I think rim choice is another factor that controls tire size
but it is kind of a moot point because the current 650b rim
availability doesn't offer much variety.  All this said, I run hetres
on my 54cm canti saluki, with fenders, using velocity synergys.  I
have about 6mm clearance on either side of the tire at the chainstay
bridge, which is close, but no threat of rubbing.  One problem though,
is that the tires has to be deflated to mount the wheels, they wont
clear the canti's fully inflated.  I don't know how this might change
with the geometry of the newer models.
