I tried bar ends last year, after 25 years with DT and 2 with brifters. I found I really liked the closeness of the shifters when commuting in heavy traffic or on steep, rolling terrain, where I shift more often. But I've never gotten bar ends to shift as reliably or hold the gear consistently as I do with DT shifters.
