I installed a Flyer Special on my upright Xtracycle this spring. The
weight wasn't a big deal; ALL Brooks saddles weigh more, so springs
wasn't going to make or break it for me. I found that the sprung
saddle took much longer to break in. The boingy feeling was actually
okay on a longbike (it helped take up some of the shock that would've
gone into the frame, and since it's an add-on I figure any stress
reduction for the connection points is good). The noise went away
after I applied a drop of oil to each of the springs. In short, a good
choice; and when the B-17 on my daily city bike goes I may well
replace it with a Flyer.
