It kind-of-works, with the same results as before:
sdump reports a combined "big-screen" and the monitors are treated as
such

xrandr --version reports

        xrandr program version       1.4.2
        Server reports RandR version 1.4

The system is a T410 (though some of my machines go back to T60 models)
running Debian Jessie (stable).
