Excellent. Waiting preforked processes simply show "qpsmtpd child" when
listening, and above when it's actually servicing a connection.
Last thing to test that's qpsmtpd related is the timeout - I think that
0.32 forkserver was not honoring the config/timeoutsmtpd file (I had
Outlook connections hang while transferring attachments - faulty router -
but the connection seemed to be hung and never disconnect. I probably
should have checked with netstat to confirm, but the router is now
replaced.) I'm setting both config/timeoutsmtpd and config/timeout and
I'll try a manual connection that just sits and does nothing.
There is a long-standing problem with qpsmtpd that it does not apply
timeouts to executions of plugins. That may not be your problem here
(plugins shouldn't be running while the message body is being transferred)
but it is something for you to configure, and hopefully something for core
developers to finally fix.
