Hi,

Thanks everyone for their help so far. I got things to work and qpsmtpd has
radically cut down on spam. As an amateur email admin, I've got two issues.

1a. I'm being hammered with a client_name=localhost
reverse_client_name=localhost client_address=127.0.0.1.  Does qpsmtpd have a
way to slow the connection speed as repeated failed connection attempts
build-up? Here's an ssh/iptables example that I'm trying to replicate within
qpsmtpd.
http://hostingfu.com/article/ssh-dictionary-attack-prevention-with-iptables. I
can see how the iptables example may not be ideal, but I'm not experienced
enough to know if there's a qpsmtpd alternative.

1b. I'm using badmailfrom with entries @localhost and 127.0.0.1 to stop this.
Am I using badmailfrom correctly? Qpsmtpd listens on the public interface, so
it seems like I'm using badmailfrom right.

Any other suggestions for throttling this trash are welcome. Finally, I'll
post a decent newbie config on the wiki once I get a little more confidence in
my setup.

2. Is there an api option to silently drop unwanted mail? I'm probably
violating the standards and offending email hosting professionals, but I
thought I'd ask anyway.

3. It does not appear there's a project that reports qpsmtpd activity like
pflogsumm. If there isn't I'll hack one up as a gpl project. Are there any
particular report items that are of interest to experienced qpsmtpd users
before I go off blindly doing my own thing?

Thanks again for working a great project.

Michael
