POP with qmail

I seem to be missing something. The docs say that I can use a line in inetd.conf like 
this one:

  qmail-popup myhost.net checkpoppasswd qmail-pop3d /var/qmail/maildir

But this syntax is invalid. It's missing componants that inetd needs, like 
'wait/nowait'. Does anybody have some usefull input to get me rolling?
