...and basically we invent a multi-layered migraine-inducing qmail
bureacracy, where every programmer who thinks he has something worthwhile to
contribute must talk to any or all other programmers to see who will accept
his contributions.  In the end, this hapless programmer may decide to create
his own version of the program anyway, which puts us back to square one of
trying to marry different versions of the same program to get the features
we want.

I see where you're coming from, but I honestly think this would cause more
trouble than it is worth.  Trying to make something idiot-proof will only
add to the complexity, and just wait until the bigger idiots come along...
