It does this on one of my systems but only when using SMTP
authentication by user/pass. If I disable it (my internal network IP
range is added in /etc/tcp.smtp to allow relaying) then it doesn't hang.

users is sending e-mail the blue bar on the outlook express appears and
stay for a long time displaying.
And some
time the wait msg of smtp happen.
When I
disable the qmail-scanner the problem didn't haven any more.
