This isn't a Sophos problem - it's sophie :-( Unfortunately, the large changes that occurred in Fedora Core 2 (newer C libraries, 2.6 kernel - don't know what) BREAKS sophie. If you are using Fedora Core 2 - you can't use sophie. Yes please talk to Sophos about it.
