Ouch! > As it says: > > /etc/tcpserver/smtp.rules > # > # No Qmail-Scanner at all for mail from 127.0.0.1 > 127.:allow,RELAYCLIENT="",RBLSMTPD="",QMAILQUEUE="/var/qmail/bin/q > mail-queue" > > See? "No Qmail-Scanner at all for mail from 127.0.0.1". If you do > want Email > sent via SMTP from 127.0.0.1 to be scanned, then don't use that line, or > alter the QMAILQUEUE entry appropriately. > I thought I understood how it works and still don't understand why my system requires 127.0.0.1 to be set like my other networks in order to get outgoing mail from my PC (65.164.70.43) to be scanned. That is what has me puzzled and why I sent this message to the list hoping for a little insight. Sorry that I did such a poor job explaining the problem. > You don't say what "a dialup PC" is. i.e. what IP address it is. From the > tcpserver rules you sent, it would appear that only Email from > 127.0.0.1 has > Qmail-Scanner disabled - so I'd assume that means your dialup PC > *is* being > scanned, as I'd assume it isn't on the 127 network. How do you know it > isn't being scanned? When you send a message from the PC, check your > syslog/maillogs and qmail-queue.log to see what happens. > My dialup PC is 65.164.70.43 which should be covered by the 65.164.70. entry. To test the scanning for both incoming and outgoing email I send a message to an outside address that is set to forward back to me. Therefore the message should get scanned, leave our server, go to the remote server then bounce back to our server and be scanned a second time. But when I look at the headers of the test message there is only one "Received: " qmail-scanner entry (the inbound one) when there should be two. Now, if I modify my tcp.smtp file so that 127. sets QMAILQUEUE to /var/qmail/bin/qmail-scanner-queue.pl, rebuild the cdb, then the test messages now have two qmail-scanner Recieved: headers as expected. -- Ed. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Qmail-scanner-general mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/qmail-scanner-general
