Thanks Keith. I am well aware of the other image services and map services available from geonb.snb.ca. I helped publish them. I am more interested in the capabilities of QGIS to restyle an ArcGIS Image Service.
I did try the ArcGIS Image Service Connector plugin. It worked OK with QGIS 3.34. I was able to change the symbology in the Layer Properties but it was a little buggy. Next I upgraded to QGIS 3.42. I was hoping improvements had been made to the handling of ArcGIS Image Service styling based on the capabilities of the ArcGIS Image Service Connector plugin. But no luck, 3.42 and 3.34 both lack the ability to change the symbology of an ArcGIS image service in the layer properties. Additionally, the ArcGIS Image Service Connector plugin crashes with version 3.42. But that is not unexpected - the plugin was last updated in 2019. It would be preferable to restyle the DEM image service based on the user's needs instead of relying on a civil servant to publish an image service with exact parameters for every user's needs. What if a user needs a different colour ramp, a different sun angle, or a different contour interval? I am stuck working with Esri at my day job. But I'm an open source enthusiast and I want QGIS users to have equal or better access to the ArcGIS Image services we publish. Best regards, Bernie.
