I've just tried compiling with SDL instead of Cocoa (and using
SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11), with still no results! Not even by using Xnest.
I'm completely out of hints.

Here's qemu from i386-softmmu. If you also used Apple's compilers,
I'm not sure how much could this help, though. Maybe it's a
display driver issue - I remember seeing some similar "black
window" reports after 10.4.9 update.
