Out of curiosity, I ran the linux firmware kit live cdrom, that tests linux interaction with the BIOS.
The test results in 3 failures and 3 warning when executed in qemu using the command "qemu -cdrom firmwarekit.iso" [FAIL] Validate assigned PCI resources F Device 0000:00:02.0 has incorrect resources [FAIL] MTRR validation F Memory range 0x0 to 0x9fbff (System RAM) has incorrect attribute F Memory range 0x0 to 0x9fbff (System RAM) is lacking attribute F Memory range 0x100000 to 0x7ffffff (System RAM) has incorrect attribute F Memory range 0x100000 to 0x7ffffff (System RAM) is lacking attribute [FAIL] FADT test F Legacy modes, SCI_EN bit in PM1a_Control register is Disabled [WARN] MCFG PCI Express* memory mapped config space W No MCFG ACPI table found. This tables is required for PCI Express [WARN] CPU frequency scaling tests W Frequency scaling not supported [WARN] EDD Boot disk hinting W No BIOS provided EDD information for multi-disk OS installs The kit is available from http://www.linuxfirmwarekit.org/download.php.
