I have put an updated version of the patch and client code example at ftp://veillard.com/libvirt/qemu-patch it fixed the client-server interaction by adding an end of command marker in the stream sent back. This seems to work well, but I still don't know if the use of a /tmp/qemu-$$-socket entry point is really acceptable.
