AIUI, “Get a life” means that the person so addressed should not make a fuss about insignificant things. Like posting a 16-line rant (provided that it would be properly line-broken according to Usenet convention, which it was not) as response to a one-line statement that was even prepended with “BTW and JFTR” (“by the way and just for the record”) to indicate its insignificance to its author. If it were your life to make a fuss about such things in this way, you would have my sympathy, but I would have to reconsider whether your postings are worth reading anymore.
