With some help from the python.org postmasters over the weekend I figured out why some seemingly obvious spam messages seem to be making it to the python-list@python.org mailing list. Messages gatewayed from Usenet don't pass through the spam filters. Mailman simply distributes them. There is still no resolution, but at least I understand the cause now. For now, mailing list users please be patient as we try to resolve this issue.
