Zachary Ware added the comment: I'm a bit concerned that the flags are being added unconditionally to CFLAGS and LDFLAGS (when configured --with-lto), which means extensions are forced into it as well. I think it would be better to use CFLAGS_NODIST and to add LDFLAGS_NODIST. Unfortunately, 2.7 doesn't have even CFLAGS_NODIST; I suspect it may be time to backport that.
