Hi everyone,
I was recently confronted with exactly the same problem on a brand new
laptop with windows XP. I ended up having to reinstall windows XP to get
pymol to install. It so happens that I had purchased the laptop together
with a desktop system also under Windows-XP, and on that one, pymol
installed in a breeze. So it seems to have been a problem with the
Windows XP installation at production time (these were both DELL
machines).
All the best,

Savvas

Something wacky is going on with folder names in some recent XP
installs. Try changing the name of the folder to something with 8 or
fewer characters:

> C:\pymol1\pymol-0_99rc6-bin-win32\

to

> C:\pymol1\pymolins\

and then try again.

Cheers,
Warren
