I can only find the puppet gem. Isn't there a puppet-server gem? I have a working environment without rails. The following is installed on my puppet master:
puppet-2.6.7-1.el5 puppet-server-2.6.7-1.el5 And the following is installed on my clients: puppet-2.6.7-1.el5 You mention only one gem. Is there not a server gem? Obviously I am very confused.
